When I was 7 my uncle gave me a VHS video camera. It was broken and I knew it, but it didn’t matter. I started to shoot my first film that summer, directing all the children of the neighbourhood. It was a gangster movie with fearless cops, crafty thieves and badass girls. But one day my friends found out that my camera didn't work. They went mad and left me to play on my own with my broken camera; someone wrote in chalk on the ground in front of my garage: "Filippo's camera doesn't work". To be honest I wasn’t even upset. In fact my only thought was: I shot for a whole week with a piece of plastic. Imagine what I could do with a working camera…
