Ana Shametaj

Ana Shametaj is a filmmaker and theater director. After the conservatory in piano and a diploma in theater direction at Accademia Paolo Grassi in Milan, she founded in 2013 the art collective Kokoschka Revival, leading the artistic direction and within she produces as director, designer and author. Her theater shows have been Let There Be Love (2012), Borderline (2013), Trilogy of the Triangle (2015), Lars - a portrait of Lars Von Trier (2016), YouFight! (2019), represented among others at Piccolo Teatro, Teatro Franco Parenti, ZonaK, Le Hublot (FR), Danske Schole Odsherred (DK). Her artistic research is deeply influenced by the language of video art, and she began to make her first films investigating the limits and the potentialities of the narration of artistic processes, stressing the relationship between control and loss of control within her creations. In 2018 she directs "Apocalypse Wow!" written by Franco Berardi Bifo (Museo Macro) and in 2019 she is director of the feature film "Gli Indocili", produced by Jacopo Quadri for Ubulibri and Raicinema, with poems by Mariangela Gualtieri ( 72° Locarno Festival - L'immagine e la parola, 30° Trieste Film Festival, 38° ArtFifa Montréal), winner of the Gran Premio di Asolo. In 2019 she is one of the filmmakers selected by Béla Tarr to make the collective film "Under The God", presented at the 72nd Locarno Festival. Since 2020 Kokoschka Revival Digital Arts studio starts to make installations that investigate how technological mediation incorporates specific perceptual and ideological patterns, calling them digital ecosystems. Among clients and partners Hearst Magazines, Hermès Italia, Elisa Ossino Studio, Ponderosa Music & Art. Since 2018, vice president of "The Azzurra," a Los Angeles-based non-profit organization that promotes Italian culture in California.
